CHOICE & CHALLENGE
A 13-week moduleS included in Ballyrunners
The Choice and Challenge Group Programme is a Probation Service’s nationally approved offending behaviour programme.
Developed in accordance with evidence-based principles, its central focus is to challenge negative beliefs and attitudes, promote prosocial behaviours and enhance individual capacity for problem-solving and personal growth and development
Champion of Champions
Is a competitive module within Ballyrunners, it runs for most of the programme and the modules include:
- Archery
- Basketball
- Skipping
- Indoor Football
- Penalty Shots
- Running Laps
Community Gardening / Community clean up
6 to 9 weeks
Community Involvement –the young people undertake horticultural programmes within the local community this involves clearing and restoring community gardens, painting walls, clearing ground, planting etc.
This is pro-social modelling creating a positive image of the participants.
TAG (Teens And Guards)
4 weeks
This module specifically aimed at building relationships between An Garda Síochána and the participants, it is delivered by The Community Guards involved in Ballyrunners.
Mini Football league
This module is about breaking down barriers between An Garda Síochána and the groups.
The group play several matches against The Guards in competition for a Trophy for the winners.
Equine Welfare
DSPCA responsible horse ownership programme, this module runs for 6 weeks, it is delivered by the Dublin SPCA’s Equine Welfare & Re-homing Manager
Hill Walking
This activity happens 3 to 4 times throughout the course. It is facilitated by the community guards that are involved in the programme.
Cook It
This is a 6-week module of basic cooking and nutrition skills.
Yoga
This module is usually run for 9 weeks.
Addiction Awareness
A 6-week addiction awareness module.
